Wisconsin recruiting offer in-state lineman Hunter Mallinger

Wisconsin football extended an offer to three-star class of 2027 offensive lineman Hunter Mallinger on Sunday.

Mallinger was in attendance at the Badgers’ prospect camp over the weekend. According to 247Sports’ Nick Osen, he was one of the event’s standouts.

Wisconsin becomes the eighth program to join the Sussex, Wisconsin, native’s offer sheet at this early stage of the 2027 cycle, joining Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Minnesota, Northwestern and Washington State. 247Sports currently ranks him as the No. 27 interior offensive lineman in the class of 2027 and the No. 5 player from Wisconsin.

The Badgers are still busy at work in the class of 2026 cycle. The program’s current class of 13 commitments ranks No. 33 in the nation and No. 11 in the Big Ten. Continued positive movement is expected over the next few weeks as some of the program’s top targets announce their commitment decisions.

Still, it isn’t too early to make strides in the 2027 cycle, especially with in-state recruits. The program has struggled in that regard over the last few recruiting cycles. It does not have a commitment from any of the state’s top five recruits in the class of 2026, plus it landed just two of the state’s top five players in 2025 (No. 4 and No. 5) and one in 2024 (No. 4).

Mallinger’s recruitment will be one to watch as the 2027 cycle heats up this fall.
