Panhandle football star announces commitment to Division I program

Two weeks after West Plains’ offensive lineman Keegan Collins announced his verbal commitment to Kansas State, another one of the best football players in the Texas Panhandle has come off the board.

On Monday, Panhandle star Braxton Robinson announced his pledge to Army, joining the Knights 2026 recruiting class.

Robinson, a rising senior, earned First Team recognition on the 2024 Texas Panhandle Super Team after accounting for 2,090 yards and 20 touchdowns through the air as well as 1,214 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns on the ground.

On defense, Robinson starred at linebacker, racking up 92 tackles, three tackles for loss and an interception. Robinson’s efforts helped Panhandle earn a 9-1 regular season record last year. Panhandle knocked off New Home in the first round of the postseason before falling to Stamford, which would go on to play for a state championship.

Now, Robinson has his commitment out of the way, and will be ready to lead Dane Ashley’s team one last time. Prior to his stellar junior campaign, the Panthers’ star quarterback was named Globe-News Newcomer of the Year in 2023 after taking over for former Panhandle standout and current West Texas A&M defensive lineman Landyn Hack.

Robinson’s commitment to Army comes after the Black Knights went 12-2 in 2024 en route to claiming the American Athletic Conference title with a 35-14 win against Tulane and beating Louisiana Tech 27-6 in the Independence Bowl.

Army was led this season by Abernathy product Bryson Daily, whose hometown is located a few hours south of Panhandle.
