Idaho football adds Valliant RB Kenny Golston to 2026 recruiting class

One of the state’s top small school recruits in the 2026 class recently made his college decision.

Valliant’s Kenny Golston announced his commitment to Idaho on June 8.

A standout running back, Golston is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, and was named the 2024 Class 2A-II District 4 Offensive Player of the Year after finishing with 140 carries, 1,121 yards and 23 touchdowns.

The 6-foot and 216-pound Golston, who also plays linebacker for Valliant, has an impressive offer list that includes Power Four programs Indiana, Missouri, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington State, and he is ranked No. 14 on The Oklahoman’s initial Super 30 list of the state’s top prospects in the 2026 class.

Golston will join an Idaho program that recently named a new head coach in Thomas Ford, who was hired in December after serving as Oregon State’s running backs coach. Ford was Idaho’s special teams coordinator and running backs coach in 2022 and 2023.
