La Salle two-way standout Joey O’Brien has made his decision. In a press conference Friday night on the school’s Wyndmoor campus, the highly recruited safety/wideout announced to the gathered friends and media he would be taking his football skills to Notre Dame.
Penn State, Clemson and Oregon were also said to be in heavy consideration.
O’Brien is considered one of the top high school safety prospects in the nation and rated by On.3.com as the No. 1 recruit in Pennsylvania. O’Brien (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) is a prestigious 5-star talent per 247Sports.
The Glenside resident also was a standout wideout for the Explorers, catching 68 passes for over 1,000 yards this fall season. He will bring those skills and his pass defending skills at safety to the Irish.
