Thomas Castellanos isn’t hiding his excitement for Florida State’s season opener against Alabama football.

The Boston College transfer spoke about the Seminoles’ 2025 opener against the Crimson Tide with On3. It’s a game Castellanos said he has high expectations for, calling out a former Alabama football coach in the process.

“I’m excited, man,” Castellanos said. “People, I don’t know if they know, but you go back and watch every first game that I played in, we always start fast. I dreamed of moments like this. I dreamed of playing against Alabama. They don’t have Nick Saban to save them. I just don’t see them stopping me.”

Alabama has played Florida State five times historically. Florida State has one win: a 2007 Seminoles victory in Jacksonville, Florida that was later vacated. The Crimson Tide won its last meeting against Florida State 24-7 in Atlanta in 2017.

Florida State is one of four non-conference opponents on Alabama’s 2025 schedule along with Louisiana Monroe, Wisconsin and Eastern Illinois.

Alabama has not opened a season on the road since a 44-13 neutral-site win against Miami in 2021. The Crimson Tide has not faced a true road game to begin a season since 2020.

Alabama vs. Florida State will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT Aug. 30 at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.
