LSU football’s Nussmeier talks how transfers have gelled with team

LSU football has a lot of new faces on its 2025 squad. The Tigers were aggressive in the transfer portal, signing the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country.

In the last few years, we’ve seen transfer classes come in and immediately make a team a college football playoff contender. On other occasions, the team falters. How the transfers gel with the rest of the team is key.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier said this LSU team has gone out of its way to create chemistry.

“We have to be close, we have to create a chemistry and I think we’ve done an unbelievable job with that, you know, whether it’s, you see the videos of us playing the pool at Coach Kelly’s house or, you know, just hanging out over there, you know, doing different things, you know, on our own time, just spending time around each other as much as we can, you know, getting those transfers as comfortable as we can and just trying to build that chemistry,” Nussmeier said at the Manning Passing Academy.

Nussmeier will be relying on transfers in 2025. LSU’s wide receiver room is reloaded with the transfer additions of Barion Brown and Nic Anderson. At tight end, LSU added Bauer Sharp and Donovan Green. On the offensive line, LSU welcomes highly-touted Power Four transfers Braelin Moore and Josh Thompson.
