FORT LAUDERDALE – At 6-foot-2 ½,200 pounds Brysen Wright already stands out in a crowd.
But then he does amazing things on the football field that really set him apart.
Wright, a Mandarin sophomore wide receiver, had three touchdowns in two games for Raw Miami on June 29 at the OT7 playoffs at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
“I work hard. I work hard on (those catches), so when I get into a game I come out, do what I do. I put in the work, and I go out and execute.”
Wright had a pair of impressive touchdown catches on passes in Raw’s first game of the day — a one-handed grab in the back of the end zone to tie the game and then a nice grab along the sidelines that was the game-winning score. On both catches, Wright managed to get both feet down in the end zone.
“We were down a touchdown with two minutes left in the game, I knew we had to score,” Wright said. “With how hard I work, I knew I was going to prove it. I know I can do what I do.”
Wright was a go-to receiver for Raw throughout the weekend and certainly will be a featured player in Mandarin’s offense this fall.
While he has plenty of time to make a college decision, he already has offers from Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas and others.
He said Ohio State and Miami are the two teams that have made the biggest impression…
