What will OSU football assistant coaches earn? See contract details

STILLWATER — Despite increasing the number of position coaches by two, the Oklahoma State football team will pay less in salary for that group than it paid the coaches who were terminated after the 2024 season.

OSU’s total contractual obligation to its 12 new offensive and defensive coaches hired by head coach Mike Gundy over the winter will be $5.55 million in 2025, according to contracts obtained by The Oklahoman. The 10 coaches on the 2024 staff earned a total of $6 million, with no coach earning less than $475,000. All of those coaches were terminated in December following the Cowboys’ 3-9 season.

Both new coordinators are set to earn seven figures this year, with defensive coordinator Todd Grantham at a $1.3 million salary and offensive coordinator Doug Meacham at $1 million.

Both coordinators have escalators in their contracts for annual raises. Grantham is set to earn $4.2 million over his three-year contract, while Meacham will earn $3.4 million over his three-year deal.

All newly hired offensive and defensive position coaches are on two-year contracts paying between $250,000 and $400,000 per year, some of which include a raise in the second year of the deal. Each coach receives a car on a loan basis, and is eligible for multiple bonuses based on team performance.

In December, Gundy reworked his contract and will earn $6.875 million this year, a decrease of $1 million, which is set to be applied toward the newly adopted NCAA revenue-sharing model for compensating athletes.

Here’s the contract status of each primary offensive and defensive assistant at Oklahoma State, with the length of the contract and total compensation:
