Tigers miss out on Cederian Morgan

Auburn misses out on another top in-state recruit.

One of Auburn’s top targets has made his commitment decision.

Cederian Morgan, a five-star wide receiver and the top recruit in Alabama for the 2026 cycle, is heading to Alabama. Morgan chose the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Colorado, and Florida during a ceremony at Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City. With his commitment, Alabama jumps to No. 6 in 247Sports’ 2026 recruiting rankings, and has locked up three of the state’s top-10 prospects.

Although Morgan’s pledge to Alabama does not affect Auburn in terms of recruiting rankings, it is a big blow for a program that desperately needs good news. Hugh Freeze and his staff lost another 2026 commitment on Monday when four-star wide receiver Denarius Gray flipped his pledge from Auburn to Kentucky. The Tigers now rank No. 89 in 247Sports’ 2026 recruiting rankings, dropping an alarming number of spaces after being in the top 25 just over a month ago. Auburn has two four-stars in its 2026 haul and four three-stars.

Auburn will continue working to rebuild its imploded class as the season continues. The Tigers remain in the hunt for several key names such as four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth and four-star linebacker Adam Balogoun-Ali as July heats up.
