Texas A&M is now predicted to land 2026 4-star LB Tamarion Watkins

Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff entered the week with their sights set on landing two, or possibly three, commitments from the program’s remaining priority prospects in the 2026 cycle, which includes four-star safety/linebacker Tamarion Watkins.

While five-star defensive lineman Lamar Brown remains the crown jewel ahead of his announcement on Thursday, Watkins’ versatility is a perfect fit in Elko’s defensive scheme, making him a must-have. Last Friday, the Aggies landed four-star linebacker Tank King, who will now join four-star Da’Quiven Beck and three-star Storm Miller. Defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, who, despite being demoted as the team’s playcaller, remains one of the top linebacker recruiters in the country.

Watkins is set to enter his senior season in Rock Hill, South Carolina. After announcing that Texas A&M and South Carolina are the final programs he’ll focus on, his official visit to College Station on June 12 may have sealed the deal, as On3 Recruiting Director Steve Wiltfong has predicted the Aggies will beat the Gamecocks for Watkins’ commitment.

During his 2024 junior season, he recorded 75 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and three interceptions. Texas A&M’s safety future is in good hands, meaning Watkins will switch to linebacker as soon as he steps on campus. If Texas A&M lands Watkins, this is just another example of Mike Elko proving that he is now one of the best relationship builders and should be considered an elite recruiter from here on out.

According to Rivals, Watkins is the 179th-ranked prospect in the class and the 11th-ranked safety prospect.
