Georgia missed out on a big recruit from the class of 2027. Four-star quarterback Kharim Hughley announced he’s committing to the Clemson Tigers over Illinois, Georgia, and Florida, according to Hayes Fawcett. He will be going to the same college that Gainesville star Deshaun Watson went before him.
Hughley is a four-star prospect from the class of 2027. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound quarterback plays high school football for Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Georgia. He is the No. 14 quarterback and No. 190 prospect in the nation from the class of 2027.
Hughley committed to Clemson on July 10, five days after he received his offer from Clemson. He didn’t schedule any official visits with any school before committing to Clemson, but he had unofficial visits with Florida State and Duke. Of course, Hughley is still super early in his recruiting process, so there is plenty of time for a potential flip to happen.
Hughley’s commitment pushes Clemson’s 2027 recruiting class to 10th, making Georgia’s recruiting class fall to 11th. Georgia has just two commits from the class of 2027; four-star cornerback Donte Wright and three-star wide receiver Gavin Honore.
Of course, there is still plenty of time for Georgia to bulk up their 2027 recruiting class, even if it comes next summer. Out of Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class, 22 of the 27 recruits committed from May onward, and 17 of them committed from June onward.
