Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer previews primetime game vs. Georgia

The rivalry between the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide continues to be one of the greatest rivalries in college football, and last year’s battle between was a game for the ages. Georgia coming back from a 28-0 deficit to take a 34-33 lead only for Alabama to snatch victory away with a Ryan Williams touchdown to win 41-34. It was the Bulldogs first regular season defeat since 2020, and it snapped a ton of winning streaks Georgia had.

Georgia and Alabama play each other again in 2025’s regular season, putting the Bulldogs’ 31-game winning streak at home at risk. However, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer doesn’t believe it will be easy for his team either:

“You saw the fight in a team a year ago that was on the road that wouldn’t go away, and, you know, I think that’s always representative of your leadership,” DeBoer said at 2025’s SEC media days. “We know that going on the road, playing in an environment I’ve never been a part of but one that I’ve heard a lot about, you know, it’s going to be a really tough task. It’s the first big game in the SEC. I want to make sure we take care of business leading up to that game.”

Georgia will have to take care of business as well. The Bulldogs play Marshall and Austin Peay at home before traveling to Tennessee for the Bulldogs’ first conference game of 2025. Tennessee is going through a change at quarterback with Nico Iamaleava transferring to UCLA, but the Volunteers could play spoiler, similar to how Kentucky almost won against Georgia in the Bulldogs’ first conference game in 2024.

There’s a big the difference at quarterback. Carson Beck played some of his worst football in the first half of the Georgia-Alabama game, but by the second half, he was the driving force for Georgia’s major comeback.
