One of Wisconsin’s top targets in the class of 2026 has announced his collegiate commitment. That is four-star offensive tackle Kamari Blair, who chose the South Carolina Gamecocks on Thursday.
Wisconsin missed Blair’s final trio of contenders earlier this week, making Thursday’s news not much of a surprise. The offensive tackle’s top three choices were Tennessee, South Carolina and Ole Miss.
247Sports ranks Blair as the No. 299 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 25 offensive tackle and the No. 11 recruit from his home state of Tennessee. The Badgers hosted the top tackle with their loaded May 30 official visit weekend. He was one of five blue-chip players on campus that weekend, along with edge rusher McHale Blade, wide receiver Jayden Petit, running back Amari Latimer and athlete Jackson Ford. The Badgers landed commitments from Petit and Latimer, while Blair chose the Gamecocks, Blade chose Michigan and Ford chose Penn State.
As a result of that sub-50% hit rate on the weekend’s top targets, Wisconsin’s class of 2026 currently ranks No. 53 nationally and No. 15 in the Big Ten with 15 players committed.
Meanwhile, Blair joins a South Carolina class of 2026 that sits No. 40 nationally with 12 commitments. He is one of six blue-chip players pledged to the class.
Wisconsin’s 2026 recruiting cycle will contain many ‘what-ifs.’ After the Badgers finished both the 2024 and 2025 cycles within the nation’s top 25, 2026 has been defined by close recruiting losses — Blade, Ford and Blair are three of the most notable.
