One of the Peoria area’s top receivers has found his college football home.
Farmington rising senior Jack Gronewold has committed to the University of North Dakota, according to a Sunday post on his social media.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior caught 51 balls for 1,050 yards and 13 TDs last season for Farmington, which finished its season in the Class 2A semifinals. On defense, he added 29 tackles and four interceptions, while also returning two punts for TDs.
“Extremely blessed to announce my commitment to @UNDfootball!” Gronewold wrote Sunday. “Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, family, and friends over the years for the overwhelming support.”
Gronewold was a Journal Star all-area first-team selection last season as well as all-LincolnLand-Large Division unanimous first-team wide receiver. He announced the offer from UND on June 23.
North Dakota is a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference, part of NCAA’s Football Championship Subdivision. The Fighting Hawks went 5-7 in 2024, including 2-6 in the MVFC — the nation’s top FCS conference.
