Georgia football pursuing Wisconsin recruiting commit Amari Latimer

The Georgia Bulldogs remain in pursuit of top Wisconsin class of 2026 commit, four-star running back Amari Latimer, according to On3’s Lance McCurley.

Latimer, a Tyrone, Georgia, native, committed to the Badgers on June 28. He chose the program over finalists Michigan, Florida State, Georgia, Texas and Tennessee. Latimer is among Wisconsin’s highest-rated commits in the 2026 cycle. 247Sports lists him as the No. 305 overall player in the class, the No. 30 running back and the No. 36 recruit from his home state.

Georgia’s continued pursuit of the blue-chip offensive talent is certainly of note. McCurley writes that ‘the Bulldogs will continue to pursue Latimer until he officially signs with the Badgers.’ The early signing period for the class of 2026 opens on Dec. 4, still more than four months away. McCurley also quotes Latimer in saying that his recruitment may go until that early-December date, but he doesn’t know for sure.

In addition to his verbal commitment, Latimer has a strong connection to the Badgers: His older brother, Geimere Latimer, transferred to Wisconsin from Jacksonville State this offseason. He’s set to compete for one of the team’s starting cornerback roles during its fall training camp. Wisconsin is also second-to-none when it comes to developing professional talent at running back. That list includes, but is not limited to, Braelon Allen, Jonathan Taylor, Dare Ogunbowale, Corey Clement, Melvin Gordon, Montee Ball and James White.

The Badgers may have their hands full in keeping Latimer as one of the headliners of their class of 2026. Georgia is among the top programs in college football, should be an annual national title contender and is the running back’s in-state school.
