Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is now 27 commitments deep, and with the news that head coach Mike Elko will take over as the program’s defensive play caller during the 2025 season and beyond, defensive prospects, especially in the secondary, have flocked to College Station this summer, resulting in several high-profile commitments.
On Sunday, one of Texas A&M’s three cornerback commitments, four-star Victor Singleton, shut down his recruitment, joining a long list of the program’s 27 commits who will also put pen to paper during the Early Signing Period. Joined by five-star Brandon Arrington and four-star Camren Hamiel, Texas A&M’s future cornerback rotation is borderline elite, featuring plenty of speed and versatility as one of the more important positions.
On Sunday, Rivals revealed its top 10 2026 cornerbacks, led by Arrington, who is considered the top defensive back in the cycle, followed by Singleton at No. 7, who is sandwiched between four-star Georgia commit Justice Fitzpatrick and four-star Alabama commit Zyon Gibson.
Texas A&M’s 2024 secondary wasn’t bad, but it allowed too many explosive plays during SEC play, while former five-star Alabama CB Dezz Ricks was still developing. This season, the return of senior cornerback Tyreek Chappell, Will Lee III, and former Georgia corner Julian Humphrey has created an interesting competition at several positions, including the nickel corner job, which will likely include Washington transfer Jordan Shaw as Chappell’s primary challenger.
Brandon Arrington and Victor Singleton represent the outside starters and already possess NFL potential, an important trait for Mike Elko and his staff.
