On Wednesday, Miami extended an offer to a newly-in-state burner that’s already committed elsewhere in the conference.
Back in May, three-star Lekhy Thompkins pledged to Louisville. The Jackson, Tenn. product announced earlier this month that he’s transferred to Florida powerhouse IMG Academy for his senior season. As he looks to make a splash in his final year on the prep circuit, Thompkins continues to draw interest from college programs.
Thompkins now has a Miami offer under his belt, he revealed via social media:
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound athlete committed to Louisville on May 23. He chose the Cardinals over Minnesota and Memphis and has been locked in with head coach Jeff Brohm and Co. since. While Thompkins is just now in Florida, the Sunshine State has sent myriad prospects to Louisville across the past couple of cycles.
West Boca Raton four-star cornerback Jaydin Broadnax, Freeport three-star tight end Julius Miles, Tampa Carrollwood Day three-star wide receiver DJ Williams, Winter Garden West Orange three-star athlete Devonte Anderson and Chiefland three-star linebacker Jon Adams are all also in the 2026 Louisville class to date.
Miami now becomes Thompkins’ most high-profile offer. The Canes, of course, hold their own on the in-state recruiting trail and clearly have some interest in the running back. In March, they added a commitment from West Boca Raton four-star Javian Mallory, the nation’s No. 21 RB.
Thompkins is currently the No. 1,042 overall prospect and No. 62 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also now the No. 121 player in Florida.
