Earlier this summer, the Oregon Ducks made a big splash in the recruiting world when they added 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho to the fold, bringing him in as the third 5-star member of the 2026 class, alongside safety Jett Washington and TE Kendre Harrison.
It didn’t take long for Iheanacho to get the fans riled up, posting on July 13 that the Ducks “got another one” and that a top-5 ranked recruiting class was incoming.
That sort of tease got fans talking pretty quickly. Who was Iheanacho referring to, and how quickly would the news come out? Well, it took a few weeks, but on Thursday, the announcement finally came that 5-star EDGE Anthony ‘Tank’ Jones was committing to the Ducks, choosing Oregon over the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas A&M Aggies.
Jones is rated as the No. 18 player in the class, and the No. 4 EDGE, pushing the Ducks up to No. 8 in the recruiting rankings, per 247Sports, and No. 6 according to On3/Rivals.
While it may not technically be a top-5 class just yet, Iheanacho was fired up about the announcement at long last.
Iheanacho posted a video on his Instagram story, celebrating in the weight room and saying that he was “lit” after his lift upon hearing the news about Tank.
“You already know, Tank’s going to the Ducks,” Iheanacho said. “Sco Ducks!”
This excitement was felt by the Oregon fanbase, many of whom took to social media to celebrate boisterously following the addition of their fourth 5-star player in the class, which now ties Alabama for the most in the nation this cycle.
The celebration isn’t expected to end soon, either. On Saturday, both 4-star CB Davon Benjamin and 4-star DL Deuce Geralds are also scheduled to announce their commitments, with both expected to pick the Ducks in the end. We will see what Iheanacho has planned for those announcements down the…
