Oregon Ducks jump in recruiting ranking with another 5-star commitment

The Oregon Ducks continued their hot streak on the recruiting trail on Saturday, landing yet another 5-star player in the 2026 class.

5-star defensive back Davon Benjamin announced his commitment to the Ducks on Saturday afternoon, giving Oregon their fifth 5-star player, the most in the nation. The 247Sports Composite rates Benjamin as the No. 35 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 4 safety.

While Benjamin is listed as a safety, he is expected to move around in the secondary at the collegiate level.

Benjamin chose the Ducks over the Michigan Wolverines and Texas Longhorns. This commitment comes just days after Oregon landed 5-star EDGE Anthony ‘Tank’ Jones over the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas A&M Aggies. With the addition of Benjamin, the Ducks moved up in the recruiting rankings by a spot, jumping from No. 8 over the Ohio State Buckeyes to No. 7.

There was originally an expectation that the Ducks would land 4-star DL Deuce Geralds, the No. 95 player in the class, on Saturday as well, but he ended up committing to the LSU Tigers instead.

There aren’t many primary targets on Oregon’s board in the 2026 class, so things might get quiet on the recruiting front until we get closer to National Signing Day in early December. However, we’ve seen Dan Lanning and his staff have some fireworks at that time of year annually, so don’t be surprised if more news comes.
