Wisconsin Football: Badgers schedule visit with Top-5 QB in 2027 Class

The Wisconsin Badgers are back to work at fall camp, as they prepare for the season opener at Camp Randall Stadium just three weeks away.

But, as we’ve gotten to know, the recruiting world never stops in college football, and that’s the case for Wisconsin, which just got some significant news.

Quarterback Israel Abrams, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2027, announced that he’ll be visiting Wisconsin in the Fall. Abrams, who stands 6’4, 190 pounds, hails from Illinois and is considered the No. 5 quarterback in the 2027 class according to 247Sports.

He has already picked up 15 offers, including ones from Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Wisconsin, and others.

“Israel Abrams, a top five national QB in the ‘27 class, says he plans to get to Northwestern, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Iowa State and Purdue this fall,” 247Sports’s Allen Trieu reported.

The Badgers offered Abrams back in February of last year, and he was a part of Wisconsin’s Bucky BBQ recruiting weekend in June.

Wisconsin has been involved with several quarterbacks early in the 2027 cycle, including three-star Chance Thomas, three-star Braylen Warren, and three-star Blake Roskopf, among others.

Quarterbacks have generally gone early in cycles, so it will be important for the Badgers to make up ground on the recruiting trail in the fall to set the tone for the 2027 class.

Abrams may be the best of the bunch that Wisconsin is targeting, so this visit will be crucial for the Badgers whenever it occurs.
