Auburn football has arguably the best 1-2 punch in the SEC with sophomore Cam Coleman and Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton in its wide receiver room. However, the duo must play with flash this season if they want to become the best overall wide receiver in the conference.
Chris Doering, the former Florida wide receiver and current SEC Network analyst, recently revealed his picks for the SEC’s top receivers heading into the 2025 season. The good news is that Coleman and Singleton were both mentioned in Doering’s ranking; however, both players rank behind a wide out from a rival program.
In Doering’s ranking, Singleton checks in at No. 4 while Coleman holds down the No. 2 slot. The top receiver in the conference, according to Doering, is Alabama sophomore Ryan Williams. Williams had a stellar freshman campaign by hauling in 48 catches for 865 yards and eight scores, which was good enough for No. 11 in the SEC behind strong names such as Auburn’s KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Arkansas’ Andrew Armstrong, and Ole Miss’ Tre Harris.
Coleman’s numbers were not quite as strong, as he hauled in just 37 catches for 598 yards while matching Williams’ touchdown total of eight. The bulk of Coleman’s production was reached over Auburn’s final three games, where he caught 22 passes for 306 yards and six touchdowns. A year where Coleman is fully utilized could propel him to the top spot in the SEC by season’s end.
As for Singleton, his potential is sky high after leading Georgia Tech in receiving the last two seasons by gaining 1,468 yards on 104 catches with nine touchdowns. He will have a greater challenge at Auburn as a junior, as he will compete alongside Coleman, Horatio Fields, and Malcolm Simmons for catches.
Joining Coleman and Singleton on Doering’s list were LSU’ Aaron Anderson and Georgia’s Zachariah Branch.
