Oregon transfer wide receiver Ryan Pellum found himself a new home on Wednesday. And that new home happens to be where a former NFL All-Pro is looking to make his first mark as a head coach.
Pellum, who has four years of NCAA eligibility remaining, has committed to DeSean Jackson’s Delaware State squad, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
A former four-star recruit, Pellum redshirted after his freshman year with the Ducks, during which he appeared in four games. He did not record any statistics but played three snaps on offense and eight on special teams, fielding one punt in Oregon’s 38-17 win over Michigan on Nov. 2.
Shortly after entering the transfer portal in January, Pellum was arrested and charged with assault with the use of a firearm after allegedly pistol-whipping a person in his hometown of Long Beach, California, on Dec. 25 of last year, according to KEZI 9 News. He later pleaded no contest to one count of aggravated assault using a semi-automatic firearm, according to court records obtained by Nakos.
On3/Rivals rated Pellum as the No. overall 171 recruit, as well as the No. 28 wide receiver and No. 12 prospect from the state of California, in the class of 2024.
Jackson was hired to be the 23rd head coach in the history of the Delaware State football program, which competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) at the Division I FCS level, on Dec. 27, 2024. This job marks Jackson’s first as a head coach after serving as the offensive coordinator at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach in 2024.
