Between September 20 and November 1 — the span in which the Texas Longhorns hosts Sam Houston and, finally, Vanderbilt the day after Halloween — the football program will play six consecutive away games.
It’s a schedule that head coach Steve Sarkisian described as “very unique,” according to 247Sports.
“I noticed that when it came out,” Sarkisian said of the six-week gap between Texas hosting gridiron matchups in Austin. “It just is what it is. It’s uniquely challenging. We have some very tough road games. … “Obviously the first game, you go to the Shoe, that’s going to be against a great opponent, defending national champs, tough game. You open in Gainesville at the Swamp, one of the more difficult places to play in the country in our SEC opener.”
