According to reports, a former Alabama Crimson Tide coordinator is set to become the highest-paid assistant coach in the SEC.
Per a report from Sam Hutchens of The Mississippi Clarion Ledger, Golding has received an extension from Ole Miss that will keep the former Alabama assistant in Oxford.
According to the report, Golding is set to make $2.55 million during the 2025 season, a number that would likely make the former Alabama defensive coordinator the highest-paid assistant coach in the SEC. The highest-paid in the SEC a year ago was LSU’s Blake Baker at $2.5 million, per the USA TODAY Sports College Football Assistant Coach Salaries.
In Oxford since 2023, Golding spent five seasons at Alabama from 2018-22 under former head coach Nick Saban as the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator. Under the leadership of Golding, Alabama finished with a Top 10 defense nationally once, ranking No. 9 in the nation back in 2022 with an average of 18.2 points per game allowed.
Last season, Ole Miss had the nation’s No. 2 defense under Golding at only 14.4 points per game allowed.
