Iowa High School Preseason Top 10 8-Player Football Rankings

The 8-player classification in Iowa high school football concludes our look at class-by-class rankings, as the 2023 state champion takes the No.1  spot in the preseason.

Bishop Garrigan captured its first 8-player title two years ago, surprising many under legendary head coach Marty Wadle. The Golden Bears reached the semifinals last year, as Remsen St. Mary’s reclaimed the crown.

THE SPORTING NEWS PRESEASON 8-PLAYER TOP 10

No. 10 GTRA

Following a 7-2 season, the Titans will look for more with senior-to-be Teagan Hanson taking over the offense. Hansen threw for almost 800 yards and 12 touchdowns with just one interception. Jaxson Schnell is a budding superstar after recording 1,040 yards receiving and 18 TDs while Kenny Ness and Caleb Swedin have game-changing abilities.

No. 9 Don Bosco

Just like on the wrestling mats, the Dons have been a dominant football program. They have had not had a losing record since 2010, which includes eight years with at least 10 wins. Tucker Youngblut, Aiden Hellman, Zander Youngblut and Ty Christensen all gained important experience last season.

No. 8 Easton Valley

The River Hawks have Keagan Lee on the field, as he had 2,115 yards passing with 29 touchdowns while also rushing for a team-high 488 yards and nine scores. Aidan Feddersen had a strong freshman season while Callan Messerich is back after catching 62 passes for 1,237 yards with 19 TDs.

No. 7 Ar-We-Va
