Fill in the blank: The Texas Longhorns will finish with a _______ regular-season record in 2025.
Daniel Seahorn (@DanielSeahorn) – I’ll go with 10-2. These seasons are getting longer, and nowadays it’s more of a marathon than a sprint. Getting to double-digit wins and reaching the college football playoff should be the goal.
Gerald Goodridge (@ghgoodridge) – I think Texas goes 10-2, but plays for the SEC Championship. I think the days of undefeated conference titles are long gone, especially in the SEC.
Cameron Parker (@camerondparker) – 11-1. I think Texas gets past Ohio State to open the season and will take care of Oklahoma and Texas A&M. I do think one loss awaits Texas either in Florida or Georgia.
What is your official postseason prediction? National Champions? Another close call in the College Football Playoff semifinals?
Daniel – I think my official call is going to be Texas making the final four for the third year in a row. I think anything less than that will be viewed as a bit of a disappointment.
Gerald – Much like the days of undefeated conference titles, I think the days of “Championship or Bust” as an expectation should be long gone. There’s just so much variance in a single-elimination postseason tournament. I think this is the year before the year with this group of players. If I had to put a full script to it, I honestly think Texas plays for the title this year, then wins next year.
Cameron – This is not the answer you’re looking for, but my prediction is Texas wins the National Championship in 2026. This season? Ask me again in mid-November, but for the sake of this roundtable, I predict Texas comes up just short again, whether it’s in the National Championship or the semi-finals.
Does Arch Manning win the Heisman?
Daniel – Not this year, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s in New York…
