Mike Elko said that Jerome Myles and Isendre “Papa” Ahfua are out for the year with respective “lower leg” injuries that required surgery.
Additionally, Rueben Fatheree II will be out “for at least the first few games” with a lower leg injury.

Before the Aggies can reach the season-opener in a few days, the practice and preparation continue for second-year head coach Mike Elko’s squad. The 48-year-old New Jersey native achieved the program’s first eight-win season since 2021 and an appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl against the USC Trojans in 2024. However, Elko and company have their eyes set on something much greater this year.
After one year in the 12-team playoff format, the Aggies are one of many Southeastern Conference programs vying for a bid into the 2026 College Football Playoff. The long, grueling and humid days under the glistening Texas sun are not quite over, but the preseason preparations have quickly turned into Week 1 game planning for Elko’s crew.
The Roadrunners bring a high-powered offense to Bryan-College Station, Texas, on Saturday, which is something the Aggies have placed extra emphasis on defensively in preparing for this weekend’s contest. While there is always room for improvement, Elko expressed how proud the coaching staff is of the roster for their hard work during fall camp. Now, it is time for that hard work to come to fruition in hopes of chasing the apex of college football.
