The Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watch list was released this week, and among those named to the prestigious preseason preview was Florida football wide receiver Dallas Wilson.
Wilson arrived in Gainesville through the transfer portal after spending his redshirt freshman campaign with the Oregon Ducks. He came out of high school as a highly heralded recruit, earning a five-star prospect rating after hauling 130 receptions for 2424 yards, 30 touchdowns — good for 18.6 yards per catch — as a prep player.
The 6-foot-3-inch, 195-pound pass-catcher is expected to make a major impact on the team’s wide receiver room, which will be a critical cohort in sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway’s success. Wilson enrolled at Florida early and grabbed 10 catches for 195 yards during the program’s Orange and Blue Game spring scrimmage.

“I think for anybody, they always want the highest expectation. You want to live up to it. He’s given us no doubt that he’s gonna be who he says he’s gonna be,” Gators tight end Hayden Hansen told Swamp247.
“Every day he shows up day in, day out. I think the best part about his game, though, is (that) he’s super humble. He’s humble enough to listen to feedback and go out there and use it and just go make plays. I’m really excited for him.”
One of Wilson’s defensive teammates also shared some encouraging words.
“I’d say Dallas Wilson (stands out). He can play, he can play no doubt,” added Florida edge defender George Gumbs Jr.
“Every time I look up, I’m like, ‘Is he about to catch that?’ and yes. I’m like ‘Good job.’ But Dallas Wilson, he’s definitely doing a good job, he’s a good standout player to me.”
