Colorado makes list of top schools for 2026 linebacker

As his college recruitment rolls on, class of 2026 linebacker Jamarion Phillips announced his top 10 schools on Sunday. Colorado, which is still looking for its first 2026 commitment, made the cut along with fellow Big 12 teams Arizona State and Baylor.

Phillips’ other seven included the Oklahoma Sooners, Ohio State Buckeyes, SMU Mustangs, Illinois Fighting Illini, Missouri Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies.

A 6-foot, 220-pound prospect from Dallas, Phillips received an offer from Colorado in January 2024 before visiting Boulder during last year’s spring football game. According to BuffStampede’s Adam Munsterteiger, the three-star linebacker has also visited Baylor and Texas A&M.

The 247Sports composite ranks Phillips as the No. 50 linebacker in his class and the No. 95 prospect in Texas.

With Nikhai Hill-Green, LaVonta Bentley and Trevor Woods moving on, Colorado will have a new-look linebacker room in 2025. Notable additions include incoming transfers Kylan Salter (TCU), Martavius French (UTSA) and Reginald Hughes (Jacksonville State).
