The Georgia football walk-on who went from unknown by most Bulldog fans to spotlighted during the Jan. 2 Sugar Bowl national TV broadcast after a costly sideline penalty is not listed on the updated online team roster.
Defensive back Parker Jones is not on the most recent roster as spring practice opens Tuesday.
The redshirt sophomore from Deerfield-Windsor School in Albany was flagged for sideline interference during the 23-10 loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal.
Jones inadvertently bumped side judge JB Garza during a 67-yard Gunner Stockton-to-Arian Smith completion. After the 15-yard penalty moved the ball from the 11 to 26-yard line, Georgia settled for a field goal.
“Very unfortunate,” coach Kirby Smart said after the game. “I think it was a player, from what I’ve been told, in the white, and the white is reserved for the officials. That’s a safety concern. Most of the time, they’ll grant you a warning on that, but it was not — it was a situation where it cost us 15 yards. We still had first and 10 and didn’t take advantage of it.”
Georgia’s 15 spring practices concludes with the G-Day game on Saturday April 12 in Sanford Stadium.
