The third game on college football’s Week 0 schedule will take place on Saturday between the Nevada Wolf Pack and Southern Methodist Mustangs in Reno, Nevada, to continue the opening of the fall gridiron grind.

Once upon a time, both teams played each other annually as members of the Western Athletic Conference from 2000 to 2004. SMU is now competing in its first-ever game as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference — which also represents its first foray as a Power Four school.

Nevada will be welcoming new head coach Jeff Choate, who was previously a defensive assistant with the Texas Longhorns, as the program looks to turn the page on an embarrassing 2-10 finish in 2023.
