The Alabama Crimson Tide will look to improve to 2-0 on the new season this weekend against USF. In Week 1, the Crimson Tide defeated the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 63-0.
In last season’s matchup between USF and Alabama, the Crimson Tide came away with an ugly, 17-3 win over the Bulls. It was a rainy, sloppy game for Nick Saban’s squad. Now, the team is led by head coach Kalen DeBoer. The offense appears to be more explosive and geared to score a lot of points. The defense will feature a lot of new faces and a lot of mixing and matching. Two things that boded well for the Crimson Tide in Week 1.
Needless to say, it will be interesting to see if Alabama comes out and makes a statement again in Week 2.
Roll Tide Wire lists five things to watch for in Alabama’s Week 2 matchup against USF.
1. Offensive line in pass protection
The Crimson Tide players and coaches continue working toward the season opener in practice Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024. Alabama offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett (57), Alabama offensive lineman Roq Montgomery (55) and Alabama offensive lineman Joseph Ionata (69) move to block.
In Week 1, Alabama’s offensive line allowed one sack. Last season, the Crimson Tide’s offensive line unit allowed 49 sacks. It is hard to get a feel for how the Crimson Tide will block against elite defensive linemen. Last season, the Crimson Tide allowed five sacks against USF. The majority of those sacks were made by defensive back Daquan Evans. While Evans has graduated, it will be interesting to see if the offensive line is up for the challenge this…
