Ohio State moved up a spot to No. 2 in the latest Associated Press and US LBM coaches polls released Sunday.
The rise was prompted by Alabama’s upset by Vanderbilt a day earlier. The Crimson Tide had previously been at the top of the AP poll, while the coaches had them at No. 2, in the aftermath of a wild win over Georgia on Sept. 28.

The Buckeyes, who defeated Iowa 35-7 on Saturday, are ranked behind only Texas, which sits at No. 1 in both of the major polls, and were the only other team to receive first-place votes, picking up 11 in the coaches poll and nine in the AP poll. Just 34 vote points separated the teams in the coaches poll with 43 in the AP poll.
Oregon, which hosts Ohio State as a member of the Big Ten for the first time on Saturday, is No. 3 in both polls.
Penn State, another unbeaten Big Ten team, is No. 4 in the AP poll ahead of Georgia at No. 5. They are flip-flopped in the coaches poll.
