Devin Brown is back for his third season at Ohio State, and for the second season in a row he is the backup for a prominent player on the Buckeyes.
The Arizona native is one of five scholarship quarterbacks on the Buckeyes’ 2024 depth chart along with starter Will Howard and backups Julian Sayin, Air Noland and Lincoln Kienholz.

Brown did not choose Ohio State at first.
After holding offers from programs such as Northwestern, Michigan State and Oregon State, Brown got an offer from Southern California in September 2020, which he accepted 18 days later to join the Trojans’ 2022 recruiting class.
Brown was committed to USC for more than a year before he earned an offer from Ohio State. Days after an official visit during the Buckeyes’ 56-7 win against Michigan State in 2021, Brown ended his commitment to the Trojans. He committed to Ohio State Dec. 1 and enrolled in January 2022.
Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Brown was a four-star prospect and the No. 43 player in the 2022 class. He was the sixth-ranked quarterback in the country behind Cade Klubnik (Clemson), Conner Weigman (Texas A&M), Ty Simpson (Alabama), Drew Allar (Penn State) and Walker Howard (LSU).
