NORMAN — OU freshman running back Xavier Robinson had to take some time to think about whether or not he wanted to burn his redshirt to play in late-season games against Alabama and LSU.
But after he had 18 carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns — career highs in all three categories — in the Sooners’ 24-3 win over Alabama, the decision almost looks like a no-brainer.
“He decided he’s sticking through with this Team 130,” linebacker Danny Stutsman said of Robinson. “And I’m so happy he did. He knew he was going to get his show and he definitely took advantage of it.”

Oklahoma won 24-3.
With Jovantae Barnes injured, Gavin Sawchuk less than 100% and Taylor Tatum struggling with ball-security issues, the Carl Albert product has emerged as the Sooners’ top option at the position.

You have no idea what that does for an offense, an offensive line, a quarterback — just the momentum of everything we’re doing.”
Finley said Robinson was upset when he got moved off of the scout team mid-season to potentially help out in the backfield.
“Because he felt like he was getting better, he was in a great routine,” Finley said. “He didn’t want to come over and be the third-team or fourth-team guy, watching everything, because he’s not going to get as good that way.”
