The quarterback who dreamed of playing Penn State football as a kid appears to be leaving the program after three years.
Former Central York star Beau Pribula − one of the greatest high school athletes ever from York and Adams counties − plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on social media.
Penn State’s popular backup QB made it known that he’s leaving the Nittany Lions’ ahead of their first-ever College Football Playoff game Saturday against SMU in Beaver Stadium (noon, TNT).
Pribula could have been eyeing a third-straight season of backup work in 2025 if starter Drew Allar returns for his senior season.
“Wearing the blue & white these last 3 years has brought me some of the greatest moments of my life,” he wrote on a Sunday evening post on X. “The current NCAA post-season model creates a challenge for student-athletes. The overlapping CFB playoff & transfer portal timeline has forced me into an impossible decision.
“After speaking at length with my family and coaches, it is with a heavy heart that I announced my intentions to enter the transfer portal and depart from the team to explore opportunities elsewhere.”
Pribula’s name was removed from Penn State online roster by Sunday evening.

The two-time PIAA Player of the Year in Class 6A never got the opportunity to throw much as Penn State’s top backup the past two years under Allar. He mostly was used as a change-of-pace runner during his regular cameo appearances, which did increase this year in frequency and meaningful circumstances under new coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.
