Michigan football recruiting is picking up for the 2026 recruiting cycle, but it’s been something of a slow burn rather than a sprint to add members to the class.
The Wolverines have just two commitments in the 2026 class at the moment — three-star cornerback Brody Jennings and three-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile — but had three before quarterback Brady Hart reclassified to 2025 and flipped to Texas A&M. Regardless, most of the top targets remain on the board as the winter dead period begins, with spring and summer visits likely bringing in the most fruit off the recruiting tree.
On Nov. 2, Michigan hosted 2026 White (Ga.) Cass three-star IOL Bear McWhorter for the Oregon game. According to 247Sports, McWhorter appears to be favoring the Wolverines and Alabama the most. On Monday, On3’s Hayes Fawcett revealed that McWhorter, overall, is considering five schools and will officially make his commitment at the end of the month, on Feb. 28 — choosing between Michigan, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, and South Carolina.
Here is how McWhorter ranks according to the recruiting services:
