Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko’s focus this summer is primarily on adding more talent to the 2026 recruiting class, as the visitors list has continued to grow, including several blue-chip prospects. However, the 2027 recruiting class will also receive plenty of attention, as one of the top quarterback prospects in the cycle is slated to announce his commitment in early June.
Agreeing with 247Sports recruiting analyst Tom Loy, 2027 four-star quarterback Trae Taylor is one of the more talented prospects in the class, and according to Loy, Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois, LSU, and Texas A&M are finalists to land his commitment. In a recent interview with Loy, Taylor provided an update regarding what he liked most about every program.
OC Collin Klein has been one of the program’s top recruiters for the Aggies, helping land a commitment from 2026 four-star Helaman Casuga. Meanwhile, Taylor represents the next highly coveted signal caller the play caller hopes to land. Tayor singled out his relationship with Klein while noting the program’s future success:
“I really like coach Klein, and his personality fits me. Again, in the SEC and I think they are going to be a school to deal with in the future.”
According to Rivals, Trae Taylor is the 13th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 1-ranked prospect in Illinois, and the 4th-ranked quarterback in the cycle.
