The movement of players during the spring transfer portal window won’t just impact other college football players, but high school prospects as well. Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman looks at three recruits that may be impacted by recent portal additions in the SEC.

Nico Iamaleava is no longer a Tennessee Vol – and the quarterback competition in Knoxville is open. During the spring game, former four-stars Jake Merklinger and George MacIntyre each had their moments thrust into the opportunity to compete for the starting job. Then on Monday the Vols bolstered their QB room the addition of Cal transfer Joey Aguilar.

Brandon has not wavered in his commitment to Tennessee since giving the Vols his word ahead of his junior season. Rivals’ No. 1 passer has only visited Knoxville since and that’s a theme we expect to continue.

With Iamaleava out of the picture, Brandon’s commitment to Tennessee only strengthens. His path to the field may take an even shorter route after an unprecedented turn of events to close out the spring.
