Georgia Bulldogs football WR transferring to Purdue

As spring football practices conclude nationwide, the transfer portal is fraught with activity. The Georgia Bulldogs, who have successfully utilized both the fall and spring transfer windows, are experiencing player departures as some seek new opportunities.

After entering the transfer portal back in December, Georgia wide receiver Michael Jackson III has now announced his commitment to the Purdue Boilermakers. Interestingly, Jackson, who spent the first three seasons of his college football career with the USC Trojans, will be joining another former Georgia receiver, Nitro Tuggle, who also revealed his decision to become a Boilermaker on Monday.

With such steep competition in the Georgia receiver room after the fall signings of top rated transfers Noah Thomas and Zachariah Branch, Jackson will have a better chance to make an impact with Purdue. In his career, Jackson has totaled 508 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns, but he only made one reception for 10 yards last year for the Bulldogs. This will be his final year of eligibility.

The Georgia Bulldogs have seen several players transfer to Purdue in recent years, with defensive back Nyland Green and defensive lineman CJ Madden being notable examples. Now, wide receiver Michael Jackson III will join former Bulldogs Nitro Tuggle and De’Nylon Morrissette in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Meanwhile, the Georgia Bulldogs are preparing for the upcoming 2025 season. Their season opener is set to take place in Sanford Stadium on Aug. 30 against the Marshall Thundering Herd. The Bulldogs boast an impressive home winning streak of over 30 games and will look to maintain a perfect record in season openers under head coach Kirby Smart.
