Texas A&M football ranked 19th in Joel Klatt’s preseason Top 25

Texas A&M’s 2025 football season is less than four months away, and while the Aggies are somewhat under the radar, this may be one of the more consequential campaigns for several members of the coaching staff, including second-year offensive coordinator Collin Klein.

On paper, Texas A&M’s roster is as talented as a program in the SEC, but it all starts and ends with starting quarterback Marcel Reed, who entered the offseason with numerous goals, including a completion percentage of at least 70% or above, which, is of course, extremely lofty.

However, Aggie fans can count on seeing improvement on defense, mainly due to new assistant coach Lyle Hemphill, who is one of the top young defensive minds in the country. During the Maroon & White spring game, the newest edge additions from the transfer portal, including Dayon Hayes, T.J. Searcy, and Tyler Onyedim, were constantly in the backfield during the scrimmage.

Still, A&M’s defense shouldn’t be an issue, meaning the offense will once again take center stage, and the pressure will be on Marcel Reed and the passing game to find an early rhythm, knowing that the running game, led by senior Le’Veon Moss, looks like the offense’s strength.

Should the Aggies be considered a Top 25 before the start of the season? According to Fox Sports college football announcer/analyst Joel Klatt, Texas A&M comes in at No. 19 in his personal Top 25 rankings. Surprising? No.

Texas A&M is consistently a preseason Top 25 team due to the roster’s talent year after year, but, as we all know, the Aggies have yet to live up to the hype, as a bulk of the fan base has concluded that high expectations are meaningless until the program takes the next step, meaning 9, or 10 wins and a berth to the College Football Playoff during head coach Mike Elko’s second season.

Here is the rest of Klatt’s Top 25
