Alabama football has its first wide receiver in its 2026 recruiting class.
Owen Cabell, a three-star receiver out of Nashville, announced his commitment to Alabama June 30, choosing the Crimson Tide over programs like Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.
Cabell, Alabama’s 15th commitment of the 2026 class, is the No. 1,045 player overall and the No. 166 wide receiver in the country per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
He reported an offer from Alabama June 2 before taking an official visit with the Crimson Tide June 20-22.
Cabell is one of seven offensive players who have committed to Alabama’s 2026 class including running backs Ezavier Crowell and Javari Barnett, tight end Mack Sutter, quarterback Jett Thomalla, and offensive linemen Sam Utu and Chris Booker.
Alabama did not land a Tennessee player in its 2025 recruiting class after signing quarterback Ty Simpson, tight end Ty Lockwood and wide receiver Amari Jefferson in consecutive classes from 2022-24.
What Owen Cabell commitment means for Alabama football
Cabell is one of Alabama’s newest offers, not securing one until the start of June. But he fits the bill in terms of what the Crimson Tide is looking for.
Standing at 6-foot-3, 206 pounds, Cabell’s big-bodied frame helped him record 1,204 all-purpose yards at Christ Presbyterian Academy as a junior, averaging 81 yards per game with 14 total touchdowns.
According to a video of Cabell’s workout for Alabama coaches, he runs a 4.4-second 40-yard dash.
Cabell is not the highest-profile wide receiver target Alabama has its eyes on in 2026, with in-state five-star Cederian Morgan along with big-bodied Florida…
