Greg Studwara named new head football coach at IMG Academy
IMG Academy has hired longtime college assistant Greg Studwara as its new football coach. Studwara won a national title with LSU in 2007.
Many top recruits at IMG Academy, including Jake Kreul, Keenyi Pepe, and Zech Fort, are narrowing down their college choices.Several IMG players are committed to colleges but are still being pursued by other schools.Deion Sanders and Colorado are actively recruiting several IMG players, including Jake Kreul, Breck Kolojay, and G’nivre Carr.
IMG Academy is in a unique place heading into the 2025 season.
The Ascenders are in a phase of transition, losing two games last season for the first time since 2012 and seeing head coach Billy Miller depart for an assistant role under Bill Belichick at North Carolina.
In comes Greg Studrawa, who takes the reins in Bradenton after 20 years as a Division I coach, including a national championship as the offensive line coach at LSU in 2007.
IMG’s star linemen have enjoyed having a head coach who made his bones in the trenches and have bought into Studrawa’s approach before the second week of spring football ended.
“I can see myself getting better,” said offensive lineman Keenyi Pepe. “He’s been working with us for like three weeks, and the O-Line specifically for like a week. But everyone on this O-Line has skyrocketed, and we’re all getting better.”
“I think the transition has been great for the program,” offensive lineman Will Conroy added. “He brings a lot of passion and energy, and he knows what he’s talking about. He knows ball. So I just think the fact that he came in and (the offensive line) picked up on his stuff so quickly was super important. We all love him in the offensive line room.”
While there’s a lot of change happening at IMG, some things stay the same — like the revolving door…
