Iowa football recently wrapped up its spring phase of practices.
While working to develop its talent for the 2025 college football season, Iowa also identified a handful of players to add to its roster for the upcoming season during the spring transfer portal window.
During the spring window, Iowa landed offensive linemen Bryce George and George Nahas, defensive backs Shahid Barros and Ty Hudkins, quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski and long snapper Bryant Worrell. That group joins quarterbacks Mark Gronowski and Hank Brown, wide receiver Sam Phillips and defensive linemen Jonah Pace and Bryce Hawthorne from the winter transfer portal window.
As the spring phase concluded, Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz commented on what Iowa has added to its program.
“I think everybody’s kind of been what we thought they would be for the most part and you can’t factor injuries into it. There’s nothing you can do about that and those certainly impede careers. But, I think overall, the guys that we brought in, we kind of thought we knew what they were and they’ve proven to be.
“So, compliment all the guys involved in personnel. The coaches and the personnel staff and the work they’ve done there. Our biggest thing has just been to try to supplement the team,” Ferentz said.
Iowa and Ferentz are pleased with how the group has meshed with its existing roster.
“I think the guys that have come in here, the five guys that joined us back in January, are fitting in really well. And then I think they all have a chance to make some contributions, significant contributions this coming year or beyond…
“It’s not going to be headline news necessarily, but it’s going to make our team better and our roster better. It’s kind of been the goal,” Ferentz said.
