Penn State adds surprise wide receiver commitment

Penn State football has struck again on the recruiting trail.

The Nittany Lions landed a blue-chip recruit at a position of need out of the blue on Monday evening when they hauled in a commitment from 4-star wide receiver Davion Brown.

Brown hails from Trinity Episcopal High School in Richmond, Virginia, and ranks as the No. 6 recruit from the Old Dominion state in the class of 2026. He also ranks as a top-200 overall prospect, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

Brown stands at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds and held interest from several Power Five programs. In addition to Penn State, he took official visits to Georgia, Duke and Virginia Tech, two of which are being led by former Nittany Lion defensive coordinators in Manny Diaz and Brent Pry.

Brown also held offers from big-name programs like Michigan, Miami, USC and Florida State. His commitment marks a big addition for Penn State’s 2026 class, which may finish as the best of head coach James Franklin’s tenure.

With his pledge, the Nittany Lions’ class remains at No. 4 nationally and third in the Big Ten, trailing No. 1 USC and No. 3 Ohio State. It consists of 16 members and is now up to two Virginia natives and three wide receivers.
