The nation’s top football recruit in the 2026 class announced his commitment to Mario Cristobal and Miami Hurricanes football during a May 13 afternoon ceremony at Nixa High School’s Aetos Center for the Performing Arts.
The 6-foot-8, 320-pound offensive tackle for Nixa High School chose the Hurricanes over Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon.
Cantwell had voiced his fascination for Miami and its coaching staff throughout his recruitment. He often praised the combination of Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal as the top two offensive line developers in all of college football.
It’s hard to argue with Cantwell’s assessment. The two have developed first-round offensive line talent at their various stops in players like Cam Robinson, Jonah Williams, and Penei Sewell.
“They are prioritizing offensive linemen, and they have no shame in admitting it,” Cantwell said of Miami in April. “They’re putting a lot of time into the development of it, and that’s something that stands out a lot to me. I like schools that prioritize offensive line.”
