The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to Buford standout Jameer Cantrell. Cantrell, who is a member of the class of 2027, is currently an unranked recruit. However, that’s likely to change soon. Georgia does not sign skill position players that aren’t highly ranked recruits.
Cantrell plays high school football for Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete impressed at Georgia’s camp. He has excellent speed and also runs track. In fact, Cantrell and Buford won a 6A state championship in track. His leg in the 4×400 meter relay helped Buford overtake Carrollton in the final event of state championship meet to win its first track state title in over 40 years.
The Buford standout has scholarship offers from top college football programs like Florida, Maryland, Oklahoma, NC State and more. The only question is what position will he play in college? Cantrell projects as a wide receiver or defensive back, but he has also gotten some snaps at running back.
“Extremely Blessed To Receive An Offer From The University Of Georgia!!” said Cantrell via social media. There’s still a long way to go in the rising junior’s recruitment, but he’s a top Peach State recruit that Georgia fans should keep an eye on.
