Texas A&M HC Mike Elko provides injury update for WR Terry Bussey

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko has continued to impress on the national stage this summer on the recruiting trail after landing four-star running back KJ Edwards and five-star athlete/cornerback Brandon Arrington this week, as the Aggies’ 2026 cycle is currently vying for the No. 1 class ranking by the end of the year.

However, while the future is bright from a recruiting standpoint, the focus is on the upcoming 2025 season, which Elko continued to preview during Wednesday’s Dallas Coach’s Night where the second-year leader continued to express confidence in his talented, and most importantly, experienced roster, which features former five-star athlete Terry Bussey, who is officially a full-time wide receiver in OC Collin Klein’s offense.

After being thrust into the spotlight during his 2024 freshman season, Bussey recorded 17 receptions for 216 yards. While his production wasn’t mind-blowing, his route-running, vision, and downfield explosiveness stood out as the traits that could make him a star over the next two seasons. However, Bussey has reportedly been dealing with a soft tissue injury (hamstring) this spring. According to Elko, his sophomore wide receiver is healthy and ready for fall practice.

With the offseason additions of KC Concepcion, Mario Craver, and Jonah Wilson, Texas A&M’s wide receiver corps is much improved on paper and should help starting quarterback Marcel Reed as a pocket passer, especially with Concepcion’s run-after-catch ability to make big plays in the short passing game.

With every new addition combined with Bussey’s progress, Elko noted his excitement to watch this group take the next step this fall.

“I think we got better at wide receiver. That was obviously a position we needed to go out in the portal and add some talent.”
