Alabama football has landed a tight end in the 2026 recruiting class.
Mack Sutter, a 2026 tight end out of Dunlap, Illinois, outside of Peoria, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide. Sutter chose Alabama over Penn State, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Illinois, per On3.
Sutter is the No. 80 player in the 2026 recruiting class per 247Sports’ composite rankings and is the No. 6 tight end in the country. He is the highest-ranked tight end to commit to Alabama since Caleb Odom in 2024. Odom later moved to wide receiver before transferring to Ole Miss.
Sutter, Alabama’s 12th commit in the 2026 recruiting class, is one of five top-100 players tied to the Crimson Tide along with running back Ezavier Crowell, cornerback Jorden Edmonds, cornerback Zyan Gibson and edge Jamarion Matthews.
Sutter is the first Illinois native to commit to Alabama in the Kalen DeBoer era and is the state’s first Crimson Tide commit since offensive lineman Miles McVay and kicker Conor Talty signed in 2023.
What Mack Sutter commitment means for Alabama football
Sutter did a bit of everything at Dunlap High School.
He had 35 catches for 505 yards and seven touchdowns as a receiver, four carries for 21 yards as a runner and six completions for 119 yards as a thrower, per MaxPreps. He also added 36 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss and six sacks on defense.
As a tight end at Alabama, Sutter plans to continue that all-around mentality.
“Like the best overall tight end you can think of, that’s what I want to be,” Sutter said.
Sutter did not play football until eighth grade. But he looks the part with one season left of high school as a 6-foot-5, 225-pound athlete.
