4-star DB’s recruitment shifts as Oregon Ducks emerge as new leader

While Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have been among the best teams in the nation at recruiting over the past several years, there’s arguably no position they’ve succeeded more with than the defensive secondary.

Year after year, Oregon has brought in elite secondary players, highlighted particularly in the 2025 class when they signed 5-star CB Na’eem Offord, 5-star S Trey McNutt, 4-star CB Brandon Finney, and 4-star CB Dorian Brew. The Ducks added to that blue-chip haul earlier this month with a commitment from 5-star safety Jett Washington, the No. 18 player in the class.

Now, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, they appear poised to add another blue-chip safety in the 2026 class as well.

On Saturday morning, Witlfong placed an RPM prediction in favor of the Ducks for 4-star safety Devin Jackson, the No. 133 overall player and No. 14 safety in the nation, according to On3. Jackson stands at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, and is a versatile player who can move from deep to in the slot if needed at the next level.

Jackson was committed to the Florida Gators for nine months, but opened up his recruitment earlier this year and started talking more to teams like Oregon, Nebraska, and Miami. Jackson is currently expected to announce his commitment on July 3.
